Philanthropy
The Oakdale Quilters' Guild supports The Oak Valley Care Center by providing lap quilts, bed quilts, pillowcases, tote bags and clothing protectors for the residents.
Members meet throughout the year for Philanthropic Sews.
Kits are also available for members to complete at home.
Club members donated 718 hours in 2012
In January we did 59.25 hours for Philanthropy and 64 hours for the Sandy Hook Project for a total for the month of 123.25 hours. Total hours to date for 2013 is 123.25 hours
On February 8, 2013 we donated 10 lap quilts, 10 pillowcases & 8 bags for the patients' walkers to the Care Center. Total hours for February was 71. Total hours to date: 194.25
On March 22, 2013 we took another bundle of quilts, bags and our newest contribution, Cancer Caps for the patients at the Care Center, total hours for March was 148.25, bringing our total hours to date of 342.25.
On April 13, 2013 we held another Philanthropic Sew, 9 of us worked hard and completed 15 quilts with several others going to Ginny & Shirley to be machine quilted. We logged another 178.25 for the month of April bringing our total hours for the year to 520.50.
